![]() ![]() ![]() I hadn't gotten to that point in the story yet when I had my own graceful moment, but when I did reach it, the story became all the more amusing for me - because Brooke is a real, sympathetic heroine who does all the girly/silly/downright stupid things we all do, puts her foot in her mouth, falls flat on her face (even literally) and still lives to tell about it (with her "dignity ever-so-slightly intact". Ironically, Brooke, the novel's feisty, funny, intelligent-yet-slightly-ditzy heroine manages to similarly trip and injure herself. Needless to say there was tripping involved, and now I have a bruised, swollen foot to remind me: a) to never wear three-inch heels again, and b) of how much I liked this book. And full-on sprinting in three-inch heels, REALLY not a good idea. ![]() Not a good time to be wearing three-inch heels. I got so caught up in the story (and in the luxury of having a full hour to read!) that I didn't realize I had to be in a meeting in 5 minutes - with a 10 minute drive/park/walk back to my office. I finally had time to take a lunch hour, during which I found a cute little pasta joint, plopped myself down at a table with my lunchtime glass of iced tea, and opened my book. This book caused me to injure myself yesterday. ![]()
